Exterior and Interior
Mercedes-Benz offered the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² in many color options, this particular comes in the ever-popular Polar White exterior paint. Befitting a vehicle aimed for off-roading the front features a full-body bash plate in chrome and LED lighting on the front roof of the G550. The AMG Carbon Fiber trim adds carbon fiber to the front and rear extended fenders and roof-installed LED lighting. Generous chrome trim is added all around the vehicle including the rear chrome bumper with the Chrome Package. It sits on a set of 22” 5-spoke wheels with black accents and red brake calipers behind them. The Interior features premium Designo Black Nappa leather with Dinamica and white diamond quilting on the heated and ventilated front power bucket seats. The doorsills have chrome and blue Mercedes-Benz lettering on them. The seats also feature a 4×4² inscribed metal plaque halfway up. The AMG Carbon Fiber trim continues to the interior as well as is evident on the center console and other trim pieces. The roof liner is completed in Alcantara and broken by the sliding sunroof. Creature comforts include a Harman/Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, Apple and Android smartphone integration, a rearview camera, SiriusXM radio, and a bottle holder.
Engine
The beating heart of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² is a 4.0L Biturbo V8 coupled to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. Power output is at 416hp along with 450 lb.ft of torque. While the 4×4² wasn’t built for speed although it can hold its own, this SUV is built for off-roading. It features three lockable differentials, special axles, and wheels complemented by dual spring and shock damper struts with adjustable damping on all four wheels, and a high ground clearance of 16.1 inches.
